A gentle and honest guide to dealing with the aftermath of a difficult or traumatic birth.
Birth can change everything - in ways we expected, and in ways we didn’t.
If you’re still reeling, maybe even still bleeding, and trying to make sense of what just happened… while also keeping a tiny human alive - this guide is for you.
Created by a perinatal mental health nurse and birth therapist, this free downloadable guide offers gentle, practical support for the early days and weeks after a traumatic birth.
In this guide you will find gentle first steps towards recovery, gentle validation, notes on partners and mothers groups, what does recovery look like, when to seek further support and so much more.
My Birth Was Really Hard,
and I’m Not OK
Or.. if you would like a slightly swearier version of exactly the same guide..
I originally wrote "My birth was fcked and I’m not ok" as a raw, honest companion for those reeling in the messy aftermath of a difficult or traumatic birth. But I know that title and some of the language, might not suit every setting. Because honestly, birth trauma is fucked. It shouldn’t happen.
I then reworded it so that it could be shared in professional settings, because I didn’t want language to limit it’s reach and prevent the guide from getting into the hands of those who need it the most. The bonus is that this version also comes with an optional audio version.
Whichever version you prefer, know that it was written and is sent with so much love. I hope it contains some words that help you along your healing journey x
