Holistic Birth
Debriefing
Has your birth left you feeling angry, hurt, like your power was taken from you - or like you weren’t seen, heard, or valued?
Are you carrying feelings of anxiety, grief, guilt, abandonment, or struggling to bond with your baby? Do you feel stuck, confused, or like something still isn’t sitting right - even if others tell you to “just be grateful”?
Healing from a traumatic or disappointing birth begins with being heard. Truly heard - with compassion, without judgement, and with space where your story matters.
Medicare is now available for eligible women.
Is This Space Right for You?
Maybe your birth was recent — or maybe it was years ago. Maybe it looked “fine” on paper, but inside, something broke. Or maybe you had a traumatic experience that everyone else brushed off, and you’re still waiting for someone to ask, Are you okay?
These sessions are for you if:
Feel overwhelmed, hurt, or unsettled by what happened in birth
You keep replaying parts of your birth and wondering “why?”
You feel alone with your experience — like no one really gets it
Feel dismissed by others who say “at least the baby is healthy”
You want to begin healing, but don’t know where to start
You want to talk to someone who truly understands birth, the system, and trauma, but who is not a part of the hospital system
Whether you had an emergency birth, an induction that spiralled, a birth that felt violating or just… deeply disappointing - your story is valid. And it deserves space.
Debriefing with a trained professional can help to address and resolve these feelings - you don’t have to live with them and you can find healing from your experience.
There is no right time to debrief your birth. While some studies show that early debriefing can help to reduce post-trauma symptoms, the right time is when you are ready and when it feels safe in your body. It is never too early and it is never too late.

What is EMDR?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a well-researched therapy designed to help your brain fully process distressing memories so they no longer trigger the same emotional, physical, or mental reactions.
It’s particularly effective for symptoms that linger after trauma, such as:
Flashbacks or vivid mental “replays”
Nightmares about the event
A wave of dread, panic, or anxiety when something reminds you of it
Feeling “stuck” in the moment, even years later
EMDR helps your brain re-file the memory into the past where it belongs, so you can recall your birth without reliving it.
Emotional Clearing vs EMDR – What’s the difference?
Emotional Clearing Process - A gentle guided process to release specific emotions (anger, sadness, fear, hurt etc.) linked to your birth story. Many people feel lighter and more at peace afterwards. It’s ideal if your birth was challenging but you’re not experiencing severe trauma symptoms, or if you simply want to process and integrate your emotions in a safe, structured way.
EMDR - A structured trauma therapy that works directly with your brain’s natural processing system. It’s best suited if you’re experiencing the fallout of trauma — symptoms like flashbacks, nightmares, dread, or ongoing distress that hasn’t eased with time.
If you’re not sure which option is right for you, you can book the one-off Birth Reflections appointment where we can talk about your birth and decide from there. The Birth Reflections session will then act as session one of either package, and you just pay the difference.

Unsure which option is right for you?
Lets chat about it.
If you are unsure if we are the right fit for each other or want to chat about it before committing to a booking - please feel free to book in an obligation-free chat below. Not every practitioner will be right for you - and as you are the one sharing a precious part of yourself you have the right to be choosy about who you are sharing it with!
Please note - I am not a psychologist or a qualified counsellor and thus cannot diagnose or treat trauma-related disorders. I am a qualified, trauma-informed Credentialed Mental Health Nurse and ex-midwife with 14 years of experience in nursing. I have a deep understanding of the birthing process and the hospital system and with that I can offer unique insights into your birth trauma.
Why work with me?
I’ve both worked with mothers and babies for the last 14 years as a midwife and nurse, and I’ve also birthed in the system. I’ve seen and experienced first hand how little support there is for new mothers (i.e. fck all) and I really, desperately want to see this change - especially when it comes to birth trauma.
I provide a safe, validating and judgement-free space for you to be able to share whatever is on your heart from this experience so you feel seen and heard.
These sessions are led by you, so we can talk about anything you like - if you feel like your birth or matrescence experience was a rough awakening experience or you are having challenges with your mother-in-law (for example!), we can go there in your session.
